The Zak Starkey Collection
Zak Starkey has forged his career through talent, dedication, and an unmistakable style that blends explosive power with remarkable musicality and cat-like musical reflexes that allow him instantly react to anything that comes at him. It probably didn’t hurt that he grew up in the company of three of the greatest drummers in rock history, Keith Moon, Kenney Jones and his father Ringo Starr. Although his connection to rock royalty is well known, Starkey earned his reputation through decades of world-class performances with some of the most influential bands in rock history.
Zak first gained international recognition through work with artists including Johnny Marr, The Icicle Works, and Lightning Seeds before becoming the drummer for Oasis during one of the band’s most successful periods. In 1996, he joined The Who, and brilliantly established his creative role in the band, still honoring the legacy of Keith Moon. Over nearly three decades with the band, he became an essential part of The Who’s live performances and one of the most respected rock drummers of his generation.
The instruments featured in this collection come directly from Zak Starkey’s personal inventory and include drums passed on from his mentor and predecessor in The Who, Keith Moon.
More than memorabilia, these are the tools of a drummer who successfully carried one of rock’s greatest traditions into the modern era while establishing a legacy entirely his own.
