The Zak Starkey Collection
Few drummers have faced the challenge of following a legend and succeeded as completely as Zak Starkey.
The son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and godson of The Who’s Keith Moon, Zak forged his own identity behind the drum kit through talent, dedication, and an unmistakable playing style that blends explosive power with remarkable musicality. Although his connection to rock royalty is well known, Starkey earned his reputation through decades of world-class performances with some of the most influential bands in rock history.
Zak first gained international recognition through work with artists including Johnny Marr, The Icicle Works, and Lightning Seeds before becoming the drummer for Oasis during one of the band’s most successful periods. His powerful, dynamic playing can be heard on Oasis recordings including Don’t Believe the Truth and helped define the group’s live sound throughout the mid-2000s.
In 1996, Zak stepped into one of rock’s most celebrated roles when he joined The Who for the landmark Quadrophenia tour. Tasked with honoring the legacy of Keith Moon while bringing his own voice to the music, Starkey quickly established himself as the drummer most capable of carrying The Who’s powerful catalog into a new era. Over nearly three decades with the band, he became an essential part of The Who’s live performances and one of the most respected rock drummers of his generation.
The instruments featured in this collection come directly from Zak Starkey’s personal inventory and represent an extraordinary opportunity to own pieces of modern rock history. Included are drums, cymbals, and percussion instruments used with The Who, Oasis, and various recording and touring projects, many carrying direct connections to Keith Moon’s legacy and The Who’s celebrated Quadrophenia productions.
More than memorabilia, these are the actual tools of a drummer who has spent a lifetime performing on the world’s biggest stages. Each piece tells part of the story of a musician who successfully carried one of rock’s greatest traditions into the modern era while establishing a legacy entirely his own.
