Terry Bozzio’s influence on modern drumming is immense!

Terry Bozzio redefined the drum set, transforming it into a fully melodic, orchestral instrument. He achieved legendary status in the 1970s by conquering Frank Zappa’s notoriously unplayable “The Black Page”. His fierce technicality blended with deep groove and intense musicality pushed his band Missing Persons into the New Wave mainstream and famously anchored Jeff Beck’s the powerhouse trio. His pioneering use of melodic ostinatos and tuned percussion expanded the boundaries of drum design, tuning, and acoustic engineering. His Melodic Drumming & the Ostinato and Solo Drums instructional videos inspired generations of drummers, demonstrating that the musical possibilities of a drum set are endless.
