Ludwig and Ludwig 1920s, 28″ Bass Drum, Painted Calf Heads, Copper Hardware, Electric Lights. $795.
What a cool relic from the 1920s! Calf heads on both sides, single tension copper hardware and flashing electric red and blue lights mounted inside the drum. The lights still work and flash on and off in what appears to be a random pattern. The first photo is with the red light on. The second photo is with the blue light on. This extraordinary technological marvel surely blew the minds of Charleston dancers and Flappers across the mid-west (think “Laser Floyd” but about 60 years earlier). The drum is in excellent shape with nothing broken, missing or altered. Look at the close up photos of the painted head. You’ll see that some of the paint has peeled. The white enamel paint on the shell of the drum is checked. The photos depict the condition very accurately. The drum is a little dusty. I just wiped it down but didn’t give it a major detailing. I will leave that honor for the next owner!
Plan on around $150-$200 shipping. This will have to ship in a very large box. Local pick up in the Seattle area is welcomed. I will ship internationally.
