This prototype “Chief” snare captures one step in the evolution of the now iconic Ludwig/Dunnett Chief line of snare drums. The Chief line of honored Ludwig top dog, William Ludwig II.

This drum was given the working name of “Bad Spiderman” as the modern Imperial style lug reminded drum builder Ronn Dunnett of a Suraphonic that had morphed into the Venom character. At this phase of the drum’s evolution, it had an aluminum shell, Dunnett throw off, Ludwig butt plate and a 3-D silver Chief badge. The drum went through several variations before becoming the iconic 6.5×14 titanium powerhouse it eventually became.

This drum is in excellent condition with no notable issues.
