Ludwig 1970s Vistalite Drum Set, 10 Drums! 3-Band Rainbow – $3,795.00
Here’s a super cool vintage 1970s set in what could be the most popular color combinations they ever made. The 3 band rainbow red-amber-yellow is commonly referred to a “Tequila Sunrise” amongst the more “in the know” collectors. The set is basically a 5 piece “Big-Beat” configuration with a set of 5 concert toms. 22×14″ bass, 14×5″ snare, 16×16″ floor, with 13×9″ and 12×8″ mounted toms. On the left are 6, 8 and 10″ concert toms. On the right are 14 and 16″ concert toms.
The looks spectacular (just look at the pics) however it’s clear this set was not “born together”. The serial numbers range from 166XXXX to 672XXXX. All badges have pointy corners except #510XXXX which has rounded corners. The snare and the 12″ tom are “Tivoli” that still include their original lights and wires. Look close at the pics and you’ll see cracks in 10″ concert tom, 12″ rack, 16″ floor and the 22″ bass drum. 4 claws on the bass drum are are “incorrect” modern Ludwig claws.
There are minor scuffs on the shells and minor pitting on some of the hardware. I could attempt to describe each drum in detail, however the pics will show you what you need to know.
Heads range from “playable” to brand new. The set includes the complete set of Ludwig Hercules hardware, plus the Speed King bass pedal in the photos.
This is a really spectacular vintage Vistalite set. With it’s combination of single and double headed toms, bold looks and beefy tubular hardware, the set truly captures the essence of it’s era.
