Gretsch 1980s Square Badge 24×16,10×8,12×10,14×14,16×16 Mark Herndon, Alabama, Muscle Shoals Studio, $1,995.00
Here’s a great Gretsch kit that’s proven itself both live and in the studio. This 1980s Gretsch drum set was originally owned by Alabama drummer Mark Herndon. Herndon was a member of the Alabama band from 1979-2004 and a Gretsch endorser (see poster). This is similar to however not the actual set seen in the poster. The set was put back to work as the house set in the renovated and re-opened 3614 Jackson Highway original location of Muscle Shoals Recording in Sheffield, Alabama where the Black Keys recorded their 2009 “Brothers” album.
The set is in excellent playing condition however shows the cosmetic signs of wear you’d expect from a set with this much history, There’s plenty of scratches and nicks in the black lacquer finish but no issues with the wood shells. Everything on the set is original. The chrome hardware shows some pitting and scratches but completely is straight and functional. The 4 toms were never drilled for hardware as they have always been mounted with RIMS mounts and Ludwig receiver mounts. Gretsch die-cast hoops and well worn Evans hydraulic heads top and bottom. Gretsch tom mount receiver on the bass with Attack heads. Original silver sealer paint and Gretsch paper tags in all drums. The four tubular tom arms, original Gretsch poster and COA signed by seller are included.
