Brad Whitford’s Aerosmith 1987 Paul Reed Smith, Custom 22 (24?), Red Authenticated! “Angel” (#135) $22,995.00
Brad Whitford’s Aerosmith 1987 Paul Reed Smith, Custom 22 (24?), Red Authenticated! (#135) $22,995.00
Brad Whitford was Paul Reed Smith’s very first endorser. This is one of 2 nearly identical guitars Brad received from PRS. This is the second one he received which includes some customizations Brad had requested. Includes note to Brad from Paul Reed Smith on Smith’s letterhead confirming the customizations. This guitar is significant in both Brad’s and Paul Reed Smith’s history. Brad can be seen playing a Red Custom 22 in the full page PRS advertisement, as well as in Aerosmith’s official “Angel” video below. He can be seen in the Live Photo with Tom Hamilton playing this exact guitar. The 2 most easily noticeable differences between the 2 guitars are the chrome pick up covers and the location of the round black knobs on this guitar.
NOTE: The documentation I received from Brad refers to this guitar as a “Custom 22”. I’ve received a couple messaged from PRS enthusiasts who have told me it’s actually a “Custom 24”. I’m not expert enough to know the difference.
From the Brad Whitford Collection at Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault.
Acquired directly from Brad Whitford. Brad’s guitar tech personally inspected the guitar. He adjusted the neck, polished the frets, oiled the fretboard, sprayed the pots and installed new strings. The guitar is in excellent working condition with no notable issues. The guitar is identified by an Aerosmith inventory tag on the headstock. It includes a hardshell case, one of Brad’s custom Aerosmith guitar pics and a certificate of authenticity signed by Brad Whitford.
