George Way, Camco Original 1950s 22×14 WMP Bass Drum, $400

George Way, Camco Original 1950s 22×14 WMP Bass Drum, $400
What a great drum!! George Way started his drum company in the mid 1950s and was considered one of the all time great drum builders. His company led the way to the Camco drum company, which paved the way for the DW drum company we know today. There’s a LOT of history buried in this old drum!
This drum sounds fantastic. It’s not a pristine museum piece, just a super cool vintage bass drum that is dying to be played. The shell is round and the edges are smooth. There are 2 extra holes from where the tom mount was moved from it’s original position and 4 holes (2 on each side) from where the bass spurs were changed. The holes have been nicely filled and the outer holes plugged with white marine pearl finish. There are no structural issues, cracks or anything that will affect the way the drum plays or sounds. Original inlaid hoops. Modern DW logo head on the front and a Remo Powerstroke 3 on the batter. The finish looks great and the hardware shiny. The chrome they used back then seems much thicker than what you see on modern drums. The photos depict the condition of the drum accurately.
The drum is ready to play. Take it out of the box, clamp on your pedal and kick some ghosts out of this baby! If you want a great vintage sounding drum for live or the studio here’s the drum for you.
