Buddy Rich’s Avedis Zildjian Cymbal Set $34,995.00
This set of cymbals were acquired directly from Buddy Rich by Casey Conrad. Conrad’s parents were close friends with Rich and his wife Marie. During the 1950s the two families shared a house together in Los Angeles. During the 1960s and early 1970s Rich would stay at the Conrad’s home on 89th and Broadway whenever he was New York.
Conrad grew up watching Buddy countless times. Rich gave him his first set of drums at age 10. As a teenager he would often go on the road with Rich and occasionally rehearse his band. Rich and Conrad remained close for the rest of Rich’s life.
In late 1986, several months before he passed, Rich gave Conrad this set of 1970s and 1980s era Avedis Zildjian cymbals. The set includes a 20″ Ping Ride, 18” Thin Crash, 18” Medium Thin Crash, 14” Hi-Hats and an 8” Splash.
In late January, 1987 Conrad accompanied Rich on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. This is documented on page 167 of Mel Torme’s biography of Buddy Rich, “Traps, The Drum Wonder”.
The cymbals are all in played condition. The photos depict their condition accurately. There are no cracks or damage. Includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Conrad and the seller.
